Before you start

You might be in a rush to get the job done, but prepping the surface first will ensure that the paint sticks well and you won’t have to repeat the work.

Our paint is easiest to work with if the room is reasonably warm (above 10°C). It’s low odour, but you might still want to open a door or window for extra ventilation.

Don’t forget to put down a dust sheet to protect the areas you don’t want to get paint on. And always wear a mask when sanding otherwise you’ll end up with a mouthful of dust!

Preparing the surface

  1. You need to ensure there’s an even finish for the paint to stick to so you need to sand down the wood. Use 120 grit sandpaper and lightly go over it, paying attention to any areas that feel particularly rough.
  2. Let the dust settle and then wipe it up with a cloth and white spirit.
  3. If you spot any knots that will ruin your paint job, use a knot blocker to stop them darkening. Cracks and holes can be filled too.
  4. Once your wood has dried, we recommend using out one coat wood primer to help the paint stick. This is just as easy to apply and can be painted over in 2 hours so it won’t slow you down too much.
Application
  1. For once, you don’t actually need to stir the paint! Just grab a synthetic brush and apply a generous coating, painting in the direction of the woodgrain.
  2. Wait one to two hours and your paint will be touch dry.
  3. That’s it! That’s all you need to do.
Aftercare

Cleaning

Once the paint is dry, you can clean as normal without worrying about damaging the paint. Take pride in your DIY skills and show them off by occasionally dusting.

Repair

Repairing your one coat paint is just as easy as applying it. Simply sand down the damaged section and apply one coat to patch it up again. It’s as easy as that.

Need to know

The paint looks really thick but it goes on like a dream and transforms into a consistency that’s easy to use.

Quick tip

Use it on fiddly banister spindles, skirting boards, window sills and any other interior wood.
